Mr. Ranval took his duties as ENISS Director in Brussels on 1st January 2018, ENISS is an association of nuclear installation licensees from 14 European countries which interacts with WENRA, IAEA, the European Commission, and other stakeholders on safety and regulatory matters (www.eniss.eu). ENISS was created in 2005 as a mirror group of WENRA, and since 2007 ENISS seats as an observer at the IAEA Safety Standards Committees. For more than 15 years ENISS has produced a large number of licensees’ views, comments and positions, for example in the frame of the post-Fukushima stress tests, the revision of the WENRA Safety Reference Levels, and some of those positions are published on the ENISS website. Mr Ranval holds some other positions, for instance as the EDF member of the EUR Steering Committee. He has built his experience in nuclear safety through diverse management and technical positions within the EDF Group for 30 years, from R&D to industrial applications. This included experience in China, and also in the UK where he was involved in the EPR Generic Design Assessment, and the Hinkley Point C Nuclear Site License.
