He graduated the master course of nuclear engineering at Kyoto University in 1987, and started research carrier at the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute, where he engaged in the study on reactor physics. He obtained the doctor degree of engineering from Kyoto University in 2001. After the establishment of Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) in 2005, he conducted R&D on Partitioning and Transmutation technology in JAEA. In 2014, he moved to the Head Quarter. In 2019, he was assigned to the Director General of the Nuclear Science Research Institute. Since April 2021, he has been assigned to an Executive Director.
